I MISS BRUNCH...

More than three months into our local stay at home order, most of us are saying "I miss brunch!" Well, maybe not specifically brunch but hanging out with girlfriends, friends, family, co-workers or even just people in general.

It seems as though something as casual as just hanging out is a thing of the past. I am working from home and can't hardly take another minute of just being stuck in the house.

I don't know about you but I am missing my casual after work meet ups, slipping away to decompress and sometimes being able to just unwind with friends to laugh the night away. Not to mention the pitch in parties, where we can play games, chill and catch up. I also miss playing music from my favorite era 80's and 90's and hearing a song come on from back in the day and we all jump up in unison saying, "That was the jam!" as we start singing , snapping our fingers, waving our hands in the air, throwing our heads back in laughter and dancing.

So, with all those thoughts swirling in my head I called up my girlfriends, high school friends, family, and carefully planned date evening events. We came up with the idea to take another look at what our states has to offer and to start exploring locally. We realized we had taken a lot of activities for granted prior to Covid-19. Activities that seemed boring in the past but are now starting to look fun and exciting.

Any excuse to get dressed up, apply make up, comb my hair, put on a bra and hit the town was music to my ears. I am not a drinker but I jumped at the idea of heading down to Bloomington, Indiana to visit Oliver Winery.

A two hour long reservation for a picnic with food and beverages sounded like a dream. When my friends called and extended the offer I yelled What's the cost? Sign me up! After I got off the call I pranced around in my living room chanting," I am going somewhere, I am going somewhere." Then I dashed off to my closet to see what I could wear. I glanced at several outfits before selecting a wide legged sleeveless two-piece yellow printed outfit. I am going to be so cute I thought in my head, but I had to try it on because this "pandemic 15" has hit me hard. I am as plump as a jelly bean in the middle but I still look good. LOL

We planned to meet and leave the following Friday. The winery is about an hour away from Indianapolis. I had not been in car for that amount of time in months. My excitement was bubbling over, it felt like I was going on a real vacation.

When we all got together we just lived in the moment of all of us looking semi normal for once. No sweats or leggings allowed. We double checked our belongings to ensure that we had all the essentials. Mask, hand sanitizer a pair of gloves, ID and the magical selfie stick/tripod. This was bound to be one of the best mini photo shoots to date.

Once we arrived we were seated at our table with wine for them and apple juice for me (Remember I don't drink). The table was filled with cheese, pepperoni, crackers, garlic dip and cookies. We also received a souvenir glass that had Oliver Winery printed on the side. That day was one of the best days that I had in a long time. Finally, I could exhale and feel girlfriend time. It wasn't crowded so we were able to extend our stay at the table and then we walked around to take pictures and enjoy the grounds of the vineyard. We also discussed our next outings and what we could explore next.

What will be next?

Take a look at our photos and start your planning! You too can enjoy what your city or state has to offer. We can't be stuck in the house forever, it is good for your mental health to be around people to talk, interact and smile. Be safe and do what makes you feel secure and don't let others dictate what makes you feel comfortable. If you don't feel comfortable with the plans, number of people, or set up Don't Go. Only you can determine your safety.

Here is a list of outings that we plan to attend soon:

  • Trip to Ikea (I have never been)

  • Outdoor seating at any local restaurant

  • Top Golf

  • Visit to multiple wineries in our area

  • Patio Meet-Ups at home

By the time you read this I hope to have more placed check off my list. Now go out and have some FUN!
